Making Veterinary Care Expenses More Manageable

Emily Ellis: BKI, Manager BAH

“Approach everyday with integrity, positivity and a willingness to learn.”

Veterinary care can be expensive, and we know it’s stressful to have to worry about money on top of worrying about your sick or injured family member. Breslau Animal Hospital, recognize this and want to help make your visit here as stress free as possible. There are several options available to help ease the burden on your wallet: pet insurance, savings plans, online ordering, discounts and the Beep’s Friends Memorial Foundation.

Pet Insurance

The cost of veterinary care is often not something people plan for. Many animals encounter a diagnosis requiring a lifetime of treatments or procedures. Planning ahead for your fur family can save you some large expenses.

Pet insurance is an affordable way to ensure money is the last thing you need to worry about when your pet is sick or has an accident. There are many benefits that come with most pet insurance policies including free access to the 24/7 Pet Poison Helpline® and PetHelpFone™ (Telehealth for pets), pet concierge services, access to alternative therapies etc...

If you’re considering getting pet insurance for your pet, and aren’t sure where to start, contact our team. We can provide you with information to make your search easier. There are many different plans and coverages from preventative care, to accident and illness. Find out more today.

Savings Plans

If you don’t want to subscribe to pet insurance, there are other savings methods you could use to make a “rainy day” fund for your pet. These include making a bank account for your pet or adding credit to your account at Breslau Animal Hospital.

Bank Account - If you’re looking to save a little bit of money as you’re able, you could open an account for your pet. With a bank account specifically for your fur-family, you could transfer small amounts of money into the account to save for emergencies or ongoing treatments. A little bit of money here or there adds up pretty quickly. Consider setting up automatic transfers into that account twice or once monthly. This makes sure a positive balance will grow.

Saving with BAH - If you’d like to periodically put money aside for your pet, but don’t want to pay bank fees or commit to a set amount per month you could also store money on your account with Breslau Animal Hospital. We would add the deposit as a credit on your account which would then be put towards any products or services you use at the clinic.

Ordering From myVetStore

Purchasing your food or supplements from myVetStore, and having your order shipped directly to your home from the distributor, is not only easier and more time-efficient but can also save you money. MyVetStore is continuously running discounts and promotions that major manufacturers in the industry coordinate with them. Some discounts could be dependent on home delivery or signing up for “auto-order.”

Ordering from myVetStore and shipping it to your home also cuts out the middleman, so you can get your pet’s food faster. During COVID-19, manufacturers in the pet food industry have been having trouble meeting demand. MyVetStore accepts your order only if it is in stock (not backordered by the manufacturer), and fulfills it right away. This way there is no question of availability, and there isn’t need for a second verification - unless it’s for a prescription diet.

Breslau Animal Hospital has an account with myVetStore which allows our clients to use its services. If you’re interested in signing up for the webstore services, contact us and we can help you set up your account. Follow the link to set up your myVetStore account.

Beep And One Of His Friends

Beep’s Friends Memorial Foundation

Beep isn’t just a clinic cat, he’s also quite the philanthropist! In 2016, Beep launched the “Beep’s Friends Foundation” (BFF) to help all of his furry friends who come through the doors of BAH. This is currently an unregistered charity. There is a collection box at reception where people can donate to BFF. The donations go towards helping fund treatments or medications for patients here at BAH whose families need a bit of extra assistance.

The BFF is in the spirit of the “leave a penny, take a penny” trays. For those who “need a penny,” we have a resource to help you afford the treatment or medicine your furry baby needs. Since COVID began, Beep’s Friend’s Memorial Foundation has run very low! There is a lot of need out there. For those who “leave a penny,” we thank you so much for your help!
